Generation Games in Primary 1

Generation Games in Primary 1

This afternoon, Primary 1 pupils and staff participated in the Generations for Peace Programme. Our theme was 'Generation Games' and it enabled participants to explore and share experiences across games from different eras. Our leaders Kate and Nora began the programme with a few warm up games that the children were familiar with. They then showed the children all the stations they had set up in the hall. Some stations required the children to play games from the past. Some children were familiar with these games as they had discussed these games with their parents and grandparents. Kate and Nora demonstrated how to play the games and from this the children couldn’t wait to get started. We were broken up into four groups and each group had a turn at each station. We played marble games, skipping games and blow the leaf which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We also did different things with hoola hoops. This was a fantastic programme to show children how children used to play games. All the games showed the importance of playing together and how simple games can be made. All children really enjoyed their afternoon and are still playing games from that day in the playground.
