Primary 7 focus on STEM subjects

As part of the Extended Schools Programme, P7, along with the STEM club from Sacred Heart, were recently at SouthWest College in Dungannon to participate in 2 STEM Days.

The pupils got to take part in CSI activities on the first day, measuring how distance affects blood splatters, trying out facial recognition software and looking at fingerprints. Watch out Heratio, Primary 7 are heading for Miami to take over your post!

The second day was based on Titanic. Pupils had to buy materials from a given budget and had to build a vessel that would hold weight. They also got to use the computer software to design a porthole of a ship, great experience for all budding engineers and architects. The final activity was using the ipads to research information about the Titanic itself.

In what was a brilliant and enjoyable trip, the Primary 7 pupils learned lots and it gave them an insight into different careers open to them using all of the STEM subjects.
