Generations for Peace, P2/3 - CREATE
On Wednesday 17th April Primary 2 and Primary 3 pupils participated in the third Generations for Peace Programme workshop.
The arts and crafts based workshop delivered by skilled Playhouse artist and children’s arts specialist facilitator, Kirstin Mc Laughlin encouraged pupils to develop a positive sense of identity. The workshop began by showing a variety of child friendly picture symbols to the pupils which they could identify with places or things.
This introduction helped pupils sketch symbols unique to them as an individual. They shared this information with their peers recognising that they are all different. Thereafter pupils designed their individual art piece using and exploring a media of art materials. The vibrant, tactile art work portrays the identity of the individual artist.
It was a wonderful afternoon, which illustrated creative, hands-on art methodologies and promoted values of inclusion, mutual understanding and respect for diversity.
